Read-a-thon || LGBT Read-a-thon: Goals, Updates, and Wrap-Up

It is now Wednesday the 27th of May. The read-a-thon started on Monday, and so far I haven't done so well. I do have an excuse though. Monday was all about preparing for my exam that started Tuesday, so I didn't actually have any time to read. Same thing with reading on Tuesday. It was a 24 hours written exam - which meant I had 24 hours to get everything done. Now I've handed in my exam paper, and I've even gotten a little bit of sleep - I'm still completely dead on my feet, with having had only four hours of sleep in the last 30 hours. But now that that's all over, I have time to read. And read I will.

Goals & Books:
My goal for this week is to read two books, and I feel like even that is setting the bar too high.   But We'll see, I might end up surprising myself and read more than that. I haven't chosen the books that I want to read, except the first one, but I do have a fairly big selection to choose from.

The first books I'm going to read, and have already started, is Something Like Autumn by Jay Bell. It's been waiting for me for too long now, and I have to pick it up. Besides that I don't know what I'll pick up - I'll have to see what looks good to me when I get there. However, I will show you some of the books I have to choose from. There's a couple of physical books, and I also have chunk of eBooks to choose from.

(A small selection of eBooks)

Updates Wrap-up
(Throughout the week I will update this page with all of my reading... Or the lack of it)

Honestly there hasn't been all that much to update you all on. I've read about 23% of Something Like Autumn, and that's about it. It's been such a busy week, much busier than I had thought it was going to be. All in all, my participation in this has been a tiny bit of a failure on my side. But I am determined to redeem myself at the next LGBT Read-a-thon at the end of June. And with that said, next time I want to participate on twitter even more than this time.

Did you participate in the read-a-thon? If so, how did you do? Would you participate next time?

Read-a-thon || LGBT Read-a-thon

LGBT Read-a-thon - 25th to the 31st of May.
The read-a-thon is hosted by Faye @ a daydreamers thoughts.

I've just found out about this read-a-thon that's starting tomorrow (the 25th), and ends on the 31st of May. This sounds like just the thing for me, so of course I've decided to participate. I have a shit ton of books that fall within the LGBTQ+ category, that are just sitting there and waiting for me to pick them up. A read-a-thon like this is a brilliant excuse for me to read them all. Not that I've needed any excuse to read LGBTQ+ books before (if you know me at all, you'd probably know that), but a week with almost nothing but LGBTQ+ books just sounds amazing.

I don't have a set TBR yet, and I probably won't when all comes to it. I just can't deal with having a set TBR, but I may post a picture of possible reads over on my instagram. I'm pretty sure I know where to start though. I've put off reading Something Like Autumn by Jay Bell for far too long now, so it is at the very top of my to-read pile. Besides that one book, I don't really know what I want to read, I'll just have to see where my mood takes me.

I do have an exam on Tuesday though - a 24 hour written exam, so I won't read there, and probably not on Wednesday either. But besides that I will try to read something every single day, and reading will be a great way to recover from my inevitable exam freak out.

Are you participating in the LGBT Read-a-thon? If so, what are you reading for the week?

#ReadingCram Chills And Thrills Read-A-Thon || Wrap-Up

So, the time has come to wrap-up this read-a-thon. And I must say: I failed tremendously. I read one book and then I started another one. That's about it. I was hoping to at least finish the second book, however life got in the way, and my teaching took up so much time. Nonetheless, I'm happy that I did this, and I did participate in a ReadingSprint, and won a price. So yeah, I did do a little more than "just" reading.

I finished Raven by Stacey Rourke, and I absolutely adored it. It's the sequel to Crane, which I read earlier this month, and I also did a review of it. I'll try to have a review of Raven up as soon as possible.

After reading Raven, I started reading The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson. I only got 50 pages into that, but so far I'm enjoying the book. Hopefully I get to finish it soon.

Did you participate in the read-a-thon? How did you do?

Chills And Thrills Read-A-Thon || Update Day 4

The #ReadingCram Chills and Thrills Read-a-Thon is on full swing. The first three days I didn't read all that much. The reason for that, is that I was sleeping. I started teaching last week, and since then I've just been completely exhausted. It's clear to me that I'm not used to teaching, and therefore my reading has suffered a bit from that. Really, I'm pretty sure I slept the weekend away.

I am currently still on my first book [Raven by Stacey Rourke], but I'm about 3/4 of the way through, so hopefully I will finish it soon, so that I can start a new book tomorrow.

Another thing is, that I haven't really participated in the daily challenges, even though I actually planned on it when I signed up for this. I'm not sure I'll participate in the others that are left, but I will try the best that I can. If I don't participate in the daily challenges, I'll at least try to participate in the reading sprints.

Granted, this might not be that big of an update, but I felt like I needed to get something to show that I'm still here, and still doing this Read-A-Thon.

Chills And Thrills Read-A-Thon || TBR List

I've been doing a bit of thinking about my TBR since deciding to sign up for the Chills And Thrills Read-A-Thon yesterday. The thing is, I don't actually own that many creepy or paranormal books at all, so picking this TBR list proved to be a bit of a challenge for me. However, I did manage to put a small TBR pile together consisting of 3 books. I do have a few back up books in case I finish all three of these books, so I don't think I'm going to run out of reading material. However, I'll only go into a little bit of detail on why I chose them, on my "actual" TBR list.

This is the second book in the Legends saga. I read the first book earlier this month, and I fell absolutely in love with both the writing and the characters. I've been dying to read 'Raven' and this Read-a-thon is the perfect opportunity for it.

This is a book I've heard a lot of great things about. It does sound incredibly creepy, and I can't wait to get to this book.

This is another book that I've been dying to read ever since I read the synopsis. As soon as I read that it had something to do with Jack the Ripper, this book flew straight to my TBR pile, and there it's been forever. So I think this is a perfect time to start it.

There are two different ways this can go. I'll either finish the three books with time to spare, therefore leaving me to my backup books. Or I'll barely be able to finish the first book, and more or less fail miserably. Hopefully, it'll come down to the first option.

#Readingcram || Chills And Thrills Read-A-Thon

Chills and Thrills Readathon - Friday the 24th of October to the 31st of October

I've decided to participate in the #ReadingCram Chills and Thrills Readathon. It's a readathon that runs from Friday the 24th of October until the 31st of October. This readathon is Halloween themed, which means it's all about reading those scary, creepy, spooky, and thrilling books. There will be daily challenges, and I hope to participate in at least some of them. I'll also be updating my progress on twitter, so you can follow me there (there's a link to my twitter in the sidebar of my blog)

I haven't decided on a TBR just yet (I know, I need to soon). I will either update this post with a TBR list, or make an entire new post tomorrow or Friday which will probably also include my goals for the readathon.

I don't know how much I'll actually read, because I just started teaching, and it's taking up a lot of my time, but I'll try to get as much reading in as I can.
