Top Ten Tuesday | 2015 Releases I Meant To Get To, But Didn't

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme/feature hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. This week I'm letting you all know about the 2015 releases, that I wanted to read, but never got around to. 

Now, there are a lot more than these, but we could be here all day, if I were to talk about all of them. Some of these I own already, which is a step in the right direction, and some I have yet to get. But all of these are books that I hope to get to sometime in 2016.

1. Just Visiting by Dahlia Adler
I've heard nothing but amazing things about this one, and I really want to read it. It sounds very interesting, and it's definitely on the top of my to-buy list, and of course my want to read list.

2. Steam by Stacey Rourke
It's crazy that I haven't actually read this one yet. It's the last in The Legends Saga (that I know of), and the first two books in that series were amazing. I think the only reason I haven't actually read this one yet, is that it's a kindle book, and I hate reading on my phone. But I will get to it this year! I have to!

3. The Porcupine of Truth by Bill Konigsberg
I read Openly Straight by the same author last year, and I really enjoyed it, so I wanted to check out some of his other work. Sadly I didn't get around to reading it, but hopefully 2016 will be the year for that.

4. Read Me Like A Book by Liz Kessler
I kind of bought this on a whim last year, and I haven't actually heard that much about it. But it does have an interesting premise, and I do want to read it sometime this year. I mean, it's about a girl figuring out her feelings for others of the same gender, so I'm very interested in this.

5. The Art of Being Normal by Lisa Williamson
This is a book I've heard a lot of great things about. I know that my cousin loved this book, and she has been telling me to read it ever since she finished it. I have it on my shelves, so it's just a matter of picking it up.

6. Black Iris by Leah Raeder
Actually all of Raeder's book are on my want to read list, and I kinda want to add Cam Girl to this point as well. I've heard amazing things about the book, and I need to get my hands on this somehow. Soon, I hope.

7. More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera
So many people have raved about this book, and I've seen it on a lot of people's favorites lists last year. It's a book that's sitting on my shelf for a while now, and I just have to pick it up. In a couple of months maybe.

8. My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga
This, I've heard some mixed things about, but I still very much want to read it. I think it's going to be an interesting read, and I'm curious to see how it will all unfold.

9. Tiny Pretty Things by Sona Charaipotra
This is said to be a mix between Pretty Little Liars, and Black Swan. Now honestly, I'm not that big of a fan of PLL, and I have never actually seen Black Swan - however, it still sounds very interesting to me, and I'm excited to get to this sometime in the near future. Also, the sequel comes out this year (hopefully), so I kinda want to get in on this before that.

10. Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
There has been so much hype about this book, and it's was also on my most anticipated releases of 2015. So why haven't I read it yet? Well, a reading-slump starting around August put a stopper on that. But I'm out of that slump, and I want to read this one very soon.

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme/feature hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. This week I'm talking about some of the 2016 debut novels I'm looking forward to reading. Honestly, I hadn't heard much about most of these, and they were pretty much all found on a late night GoodReads browse. However  I like the sound of all of them, so I'm definitely interested in getting them, or you know, at least reading them. (also, as far as I know, all of these are debut novels, but if not, then you're welcome to tell me so)

I didn't really feel like I could narrow it down to 10, so the list ended up having 15 books instead. Oh Well. These are in no way put in any order of release date, or even which I'm most excited to read. Of course there are some that I'm more excited to read than others, but isn't there always? I think that If I Was Your Girl, These Vicious Masks, The Girl From Everywhere, and The Way I Used To Be are the books I'm looking forward to the most. At least as of right now, but it might change.

Top Ten Tuesday || Books On My Halloween Reading List

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme/feature hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. This week is a Halloween freebie, and I decided to list some books that I would love to read this Halloween - not that I think I will.

Steam, Horns, It, Gone Girl, You

The Merciless, The Island of Dr. Moreau, The Woman In Black, Night Film, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

Okay, truth time, I don’t actually have a Halloween reading list. I don’t even really celebrate Halloween at all. I mean, I do read a scary book (read: try to), watch a scary movie with my dad, and then stuff my face with Halloween chocolate, but that’s about it. Nonetheless, I do love reading creepy books, even though I don’t do it that often – that needs to change (perhaps a 2016 bookish resolution?). These books are not necessarily all horror books, but they are books that I think/I've heard are going to be creepy reads. All of them are books that I, in a perfect reading world, would love to read around Halloween time (not all the books at once, but maybe one or two). Steam, I'm definitely going to read this Halloween, but I still want to try and read one of the others as well.

Bonus - two Halloween-esque movies I'll probably watch this year + one I wish I was watching:

Before I was a reader, I used to spend all my money on DVD's. Honestly, if it wasn't for Netflix, I probably still would.  So as a tiny bonus to this Halloween Top Ten Tuesday, I'm going to list some movies perfect for Halloween.

1. The Rocky Horror Picture Show: One of my favorite movies of all time. I mean, not it's not a scary movie, but do Halloween movies really need to be that? I don't think so, and I'm definitely going to watch this a little closer to Halloween.

2. Sleepy Hollow: This is a creepy movie. It's a Tim Burton movie, so it's kind of a given. Again, it's one of my favorite movies of all time, and I'm happy to re-watch it once more.

3. It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown: I feel like this is such a Halloween classic. I remember watching this on TV as a child, and absolutely loving it. I don't own it, so I can't actually watch it, but I definitely would if I could.

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme/feature hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. This week I'm back in the blogging game, and I'm going to talk about some of the books I would love to read this fall. Knowing me, I probably won't read any of them this fall, but let's hope.

Sabriel, Charm and Strange, The Miseducation of Cameron Post, A Darker Shade of Magic, Only Ever Yours

The Art of Being Normal, Annabel, Everything Leads To You, Prisoner of Night and Fog, Your Voice Is All I Hear

So I haven't actually been reading all that much in the past months - but more on that in another post. Therefore, I'm not really sure that I'm going to get to any of these, but I certainly hope to. Most of these books have been on my running TBR list for a long time, and I think it's finally time to read them. Then again, isn't that the case with most of the books on our TBR lists? Oh well.  I am very excited to get to all of these. Most of these are on my eReader, so luckily they will be very to lug around, especially when I start teaching again in October. Hooray for not having to carry a million books at a time. Also, all of these books are some that I already own. I do have books that I want to read, that either isn't released, or that have been released, but I just haven't gotten my hands on them. However, I have no idea when I'd get to them, so I decided not to put them on this list.

Top Ten Tuesday || Most Anticipated Releases For the Rest of 2015

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme/feature hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. This week it's all about some of those books I can't wait to get my hands on. These are books with schedule release dates from July and then forth - at least as far as I know. They are in no way in order of anything, to be honest, just in the order of which I remembered first.

(Also, this post is going to contain and overuse of the words interesting and excited)

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

I have never read a Leigh Bardugo book before (Shadow and Bone is on my shelf though), but this one sounds absolutely fascinating. I'm not really one for fantasy books (I read mostly contemporary), but I really don't think I can let this one slide.

The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan

I fell in love with Rick Riordan's stories late last year, and I really can't turn down a story about Norse mythology. I'm really interested in how this story is going to progress, and what direction it will take.

Tonight the Streets Are Ours by Leila Sales

I read This Song Will Save Your Life last year, and I absolutely loved it. So when I found out that Leila Sales had a book coming out this year, I got really excited. This sounds really interesting, and I cannot wait to get my hands on it.

What We Left Behind by Robin Talley

There is not really a lot of information on this book up - at least as far as I've been able to find. However, from what I can see/read, this is going to be a fascinating book, and like something I'd be really interested in.

The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness

I've heard a lot of people talking about this one, so I decided to see what they were all talking about. It sounds pretty darn interesting, so I'm looking forward to see how it's going to go.

Fans of the Impossible Life by Kate Scelsa

This sounds oh so very intriguing. It seems as though there are a lot of different things that will play into this book, and it sounds like something right up my alley.

Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon

I've heard a lot of great things about this book, and it does sound like something I would love. Just, I want to read this so bad.

Focus on Me by Megan Erickson

I read the first book in this (companion?) series earlier this year, and I really feel in love with Megan Erickson's writing. This one sounds just as interesting as the first one, so of course I'm going to pick it up when it comes out.

Underneath Everything by Marcy Beller Paul

Truth time: I didn't actually hear about this book until two days ago. I was browsing Goodreads, and I thought the cover looked interesting. Then I read the synopsis, and I'm now very interested in this.

Signs Point to Yes by Sandy Hall

Actually I didn't hear about this book until last week, but it sounds really interesting. Also, there is a small mention of Bisexuality in the summary, so that does interest me. Even if it's not that big of a plot point, I'm still very excited for this one.

Top Ten Tuesday || Books On My Spring TBR List

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme/feature hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. This week I'm talking about the books that I really want to read this spring. All but one of these books are some that I already own. The only one that I don't own, and that aren't out yet, is Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. However, its release date is next month, and I highly intent to get it.

The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M Danforth

This is a book that I’ve wanted to read for such a long time, and now that I finally have it in my possession, it’s been added to the top of my tbr. I think it’s going to be one of the next books I’m going to pick up.

Everything Leads To You by Nina LaCour

Another book that I’ve wanted to read for a long time. It just seems like something that would be good to read in the spring. I might be wrong, but no matter what, I need to read this very soon.

Something Like Autumn by Jay Bell

The third book in the seasons series by Jay Bell. I’m kind of bummed I’m not father ahead in the series, and could say I would read Something Like Spring, because that would jusy have been perfect. Nevertheless, I can’t wait to see Jace’s point of view and hear his story. And who knows, I might finish this one quickly, and get right in to Something Like Spring.

Life in Outer Space by Melissa Keil

I haven’t heard too much about this book, but it sounds like something that’s just up my alley. Also, I’m so completely in love with the cover for this book.

Beauty Queens by Libba Bray

This is a book that I’ve tried to read before but had to put down. Not because it was a bad book, but because I just wasn’t in the mood for it at that point. I think I’m ready to pick this one back up, because I’ve heard some great things about it.

Adaption by Malinda Lo

I’ve wanted to read a Malinda Lo book for a very long time, and Adaption seemed like a brilliant place to start. I’ve heard some pretty great things about this book, and I need to start reading something more than just contemporary fiction.

Boy Meets Boy by David Levithan

I have not read anything by David Levithan before other than Will Grayson, Will Grayson. And I didn’t like that one a whole lot. However, I have heard people raving about him and his writing, so I really want to see what it’s all about.

Kaleidoscope Hearts by Claire Contreras

I had to add some New Adult to this mix. This is a book that I don’t know that much about, and it’s been sitting on my kobo basically since it came out in January. It sounds interesting, and I’m sure it’s going to be something I’ll like.

Far From You by Tess Sharpe

Have I heard amazing things about this one? Why, yes I have, and from a lot of people. It sounds so interesting, and it doesn’t hurt that the cover is absolutely stunning.

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

This book is not released yet, but I needed to add it to this list. This is one of my most, if not the most, anticipated book of the year, and I am going to get it as soon as it’s out. I’m planning on reading it as soon as I get my hands on it, and that’s why it’s included in this list.

Top Ten Tuesday || Bookish problems I have

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme/feature hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. This week I'm talking about all those bookish problems I have. Some of these are going to be serious, well "serious", and some of them are just kind of ridiculous.

1. Not knowing what to read.

I think this is a pretty common thing for book lovers. Recently I've had such a hard time figuring out what I want to read, and then I end up just not reading any books at all - and that's not what I wanted at all...

2. Never sticking to one book.

I have a hard time reading only one book at a time. Usually I will be reading two books at a time, but then I will get an urge to read a whole 'nother book, and I can't ignore that feeling. So I will end up ignoring the two books I was originally reading to read the third book.

3. Checking out too many books from the library

There are so many books I want to read, and getting them from the library always seem like such a good idea. Except for the fact that I tend to check out around six books at a time, which is way more than I can read in the short amount of time I have them. I really need to learn how to limit myself.

4. Breaking my back because my books weigh down my bag.

This is honestly not that big of a problem anymore. Since I've gotten my eReader, my bag has become so much lighter to carry around. But before my eReader, I was pretty much carrying around three or four books at a time - granted they were all paperbacks, but still, that will end up being pretty heavy anyway.

5. Where the hell do I put the book..

A problem that might not be too serious, but it's incredibly annoying. My bookshelf has a mix of both books and DVDs, and I honestly don't have room to put anything else on that shelf. Last week I bought two books, and when I got home I realized that there wasn't any room for them. I honestly just have books lying around in random places in my room. Not the best idea.

6. Not getting enough sleep because I stay up and read.

Usually this doesn't bother me too much. I can function fine enough, most of the time, with not that much sleep. However, this pattern tend to continue into my exam periods, and that's where it really becomes a problem. It's just, when you're really into a book, you just don't want to put it down. And honestly I don't have that much time to read in the day. So evening and night it is!

7. Having a million bookmarks, but never using them.

This is a completely silly problem, that's not really a problem when you really think about it. I have a lot of bookmarks, and they are all positioned on my bookshelf. The problem lies in the fact that I usually will read in my bed, and it's honestly too much hassle to get up and get a bookmark when I want to put the book down. Basically they are just decoration on my shelf now.

8. More back pain, this time because of bad reading position.

I think we have all experienced this one. Finding a comfortable reading position is difficult, and I've often ended up in the strangest position trying to read a book. A lot of pillows and blankets are the best way to prevent this. Or maybe just a proper chair.

9. Spending too much money on books.

How can this not be a problem? A lot of my money goes into buying books. Now, it's not that I really mind, because books, but it can prove to be a problem at the end of the month. I'm really bad at managing my money, so I often end up spending a lot more money on books than I intended to. But I'm working on it.

10. No one understands me.

The last problem is the fact that I don't really have any real life friends who are readers. The only one I can talk to about books, who will also understand it, is my cousin. This can be so frustrating at times, because I just want to share all my love for certain books. Luckily, I have people online who I can share my love with. But it would be nice to have someone a little closer - just sometimes.

Top Ten Tuesday || Likes & Dislikes When It Comes To Romances In Books

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme/feature hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. This week it's all about love and romance. At first I had a hard time thinking about what I even wanted to write down, but after a bit it wasn't so difficult to get down anyway.

Likes:

Flawed couples - Both couples and characters. People are not perfect, and relationships aren't either. It's not all rainbows and butterflies (yay for Maroon 5 reference), and perfect couples are boring to be quite honest.

Slow Burn romance - A slow build-up can be amazing. The kind where you can see feelings evolve and turn into something so strong is incredible. It can be frustrating, yes, but somehow when everything works out in the end it is so satisfying.

Couples who can give each other something - I love it when there isn't just one person in the relationship who takes care of everything and takes every decision. I love a relationship where they each bring something to the table, and they can complement each other in that way.

Banter - Banter can be really fun - witty banter between couples can be fun and some times it can also be flirty banter. However, it can be too much. I do enjoy banter, but if every conversation the couple has consist of banter, it gets to be way too much for me.

Childhood friends to lovers - I'm a sucker for this kind of romance, all though I haven't really read many books with this kind of romance. I do have a couple of books waiting for me with just that kind of couples, and I can't wait to get to them.

Dislikes:

No talk what so ever about condoms or contraception - This is something I mostly see in New Adult books and it really bothers me. It's not that I want long paragraphs about this, but the just acknowledgement that they are things to consider before having sex.

No communication - Couples who don't talk to each other about the things that are bothering them are so incredibly frustrating. These are instances where one or both parts of the couple don't talk about problems at all. They don't talk to each other, and expect the other to just know what's wrong. I can't stand it.

Instalove - Now, I think this is a thing that bothers a lot of people, and I'm one of those people. As I mentioned in my likes, I like a slow born romance, and when a relationship has time to develop. I don't mind the insta-attraction, that's a totally normal thing, but the instalove, most of the time, just seem so unrealistic, and it's honestly getting boring.

The girl needs to be saved - This is something that is so overdone, and so incredibly unnecessary. I have never understood the concept of "girl is not complete before the boy comes into her life". Also, it isn't really realistic.

"I'm gonna have sex with you even though you are sleeping and we only met yesterday and have not discussed this what so ever!" - Again this is something I see more and more in New Adult books. This is usually the guy who thinks that it's okay to do this, and spoiler alert, it's not. She is sleeping, and can therefore not consent to the sex, which makes this sexual assault. I've seen this being passed off as completely normal and okay in a couple of New Adult books, and that's not okay!

So those are my likes and dislike when it comes to romance in books. The thing I wanna know is, what are your likes and dislikes in romance?

Top Ten Tuesday || Graphic Novels I Want To Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme/feature hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. This week is a Freebie. I've thought a lot about what I wanted to talk about, and I finally decided that Graphic Novels would be a nice topic. So, here are the top ten graphic novels I would like to read, or series of graphic novels I would love to start (it's a long title, so it's been shortened a bit)

The Wicked + Divine. In Real Life. Seconds. Sex Criminals. Watchmen.
Through The Woods. Boxers (Boxers & Saints). Blankets. American Born Chinese. Runaways

These are just some of the graphic novels that I would love to start reading, and I'm sure I could list ten more. However, since this is a 'top ten tuesday', these are just the ones that are on the top of my 'graphic novel TBR'. I do have some graphic novel series that I've already started (not listed on here of course), which includes Y: The Last Man, and Saga.
