Wrap-Up || January 2015

The first month of the new year is over, and it's been quite a month for me. I’ve been swarmed with assignments this entire month, and I’m so incredibly glad it’s over – at least for a little while. I’m trying out a little bit of new things in this wrap-up. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it, but we'll see.

It wasn't the best reading month for me… I know, I know, eight books aren't bad at all, and I did read some really great ones. However, at the end of the month I ran in to a smaller reading slump after reading The Conduit. After that, everything just went on a little slow, but I still got some reading in, so it's all good.

Rumor Has It by Elisabeth Grace
I did enjoy the first two or three chapters of this book, but after that it really went down hill. I had so many different problems with this book, and I almost put it down a number of times. However, in the end I did finish it, and I can honestly say that this book was not for me at all.

Percy Jackson and the Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan ★★★★★
I already did a post about my thought on this entire series. I will say though, that this was one of my favorite books in this series, and I really enjoyed reading it.

Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian by Rick Riordan ★★★★★
As said about Battle of the Labyrinth, I really enjoyed reading this book. I thought it was a great conclusion to the story. I’m going to miss these characters, but I will be reading on with The Heroes of Olympus.

Love Lessons by Heidi Cullinan ★★★
I kind of picked this one up on a whim, but I was glad I did because I enjoyed it. I have a review up of the book, so if you want to know more of my thoughts on this, you can check them out here.

The Conduit by Stacey Rourke ★★★
This was a fun book to read. I think it was a good first book to a series, and I’m definitely going to continue on with it, however I’m not sure when I’ll get around to it.

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller ★★★★★
This was a phenomenal read. I practically flew through this book, and I have a small feeling that this is going to end up on my favorite list this year – but we’ll see. Also, I have a review up of this book as well, and you can check that out here.

Y: The Last Man - The Deluxe Edition Book 3 by Brian K. Vaughan ★★★★
This story is just getting better and better. This is by far my favorite installment of the series yet, and I can’t wait to continue on with this series.

Grasshopper Jungle by Andrew Smith ★★★★
This book was really good, incredibly strange, but really good. It took me a good while to get through this book, but I will get more into my thoughts about this book in a review in a few days.

Books acquired in January:
So I got a lot of books this month, both eBooks and also a good stack of physical books from the library (even though I swore to stop buying so many books) I wont show you all of them, but I will share some of the books I’m most excited to read and have in my possession – at least for a little while.

eBooks:
TakeThem by Storm by Marie Landry

Library Books:
Blankets by Craig Thompson
TheLost Hero by Rick Riordan

Things I’ve been into in January:
Movies: So this month I have basically been binge watching Guardians of the Galaxy – if that’s even a thing. I think I’ve watched this movie about five times this month, or maybe even more.

TV Shows:
This month I’ve started a re-watch of Prison Break. I watched it when it first came out, but for some reason I stopped watching around the middle of season three. Therefore I never really got to see the ending of this one, and I found it on Netflix, so I couldn’t pass that up. I’m currently in the middle of season two, and I’m loving this series as much as I did when I first watched it.

Music:
So for music there is really only two people who have dominated my month, and those two are Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé. I love both of these artists, and I’ve just been listening to both of them none stop for at least a couple of months. Currently, the Flawless Remix and Feeling Myself are the two songs that are on repeat.

How was your January?

  1. Jeg fik læst 14 bøger - herunder 1 digtsamling, 1 billedbog og 1 børnebog (Fortunately the Milk, Gaiman). Ret tilfreds!

Grasshopper Jungle er virkelig også en underlig bog, som helt sikkert ikke er for alle. Den kan godt være lidt kedelig en gang i mellem, fordi der er nogle gentagelser, men den er også virkelig interesant! :)

  2. Hurray for Percy Jackson! :D And no, I don't think you had such a bad reading month. I was in one of the worst reading slumps EVER just recently and I read the same amount of books that you did this month in about 4 months! Yeah, it was bad.

And I LOVE Guardians, so I totally get why you've been watching it on repeat :) But really I just love any Marvel movie, hehe.

    1. I think it was just the feeling - I know the month wasn't bad at all, but I just felt a bit like I was reading nothing.
Oh, that doesn't sound fun at all - that actually sound like a really shitty slump. I mean, every slump is not fun, but that just sounds bad.

I'm with you there - Marvel movies are just amazing!
